One of my friends carries a Kimber Covert 1911 with night sights and Crimson trace=) I wish I could afford a gun like that but really for concealed carry the weapon should fit your build. He is like Jason Statham so he can pull it off. I ussually opt for compacts over subcompacts because they are more concealable and actually fit my hand really well. I think for .45 ACP though you should just get a 1911 or one of the new polymer guns that have 15rd mags in .45ACP=)

I just received a 25 acp baby browning pistol from my grandfather. I know they were manufactured in more than 1 place, this one says it was made in Belgium. Yes you'll loose weight, but you'd looe more weight if you ran instead of power walked and if you did more working out than just 30 minutes a day. 30 mintues is nothing when walking, but 30 mintues of running is something. If you're going to powerwalk, do it for a much longer periods of time. It will take you longer to loose weight just excersing for 30 mintues, than for and hour or more. EXCERISE A LOT!!!!

The military doesn't use MP5s, probably contractors do but that's because they suck. The SWAT uses MP5s, considering the fact that they work at close quarters. The military uses M4a1's and M16a4's, because they are very proficient and reliable rifles. Thompson!?!?!? Really!?!?!? That thing is ancient! It may have .45 ACPs, but you have to look at the gun and not the bullets. It's very very very inaccurate, therefore rendering it useless in modern combat (plus you can't really place any useful attachments on it).

i own a hi point .45 too and i use .45 FMJ ammo for both range and personal defense. use the 2nd lightest load. just make sure the ammo feeds and fires reliably. oh and put around 16 rds of ammo though each magazine to break them in and to polish the feed ramp to improve feeding. use 600 grit sandpaper to polish the feed ramp.

I am thinking of buying a reasonably priced 9 for target shooting and for my mom to use for home D. I have only fired an XDm 9mm once at a indoor range that rented it to me and only put about a hundred rounds through it. I liked it well enough and it is accurate for sure. I really like its similarities to my Glocks and the 1911 back strap safety.The thing is I have read a lot about it online and in my NRA American Rifleman and have only herd good things. So i was wondering if anyone on here had anything to say about it. I own a Glock 23 40cal and a Glock 21sf .45 ACP and am really happy with both. I have no intention pf parting ways with either gun but the coast of the big 40 and 45 is a bit much for all the shooting i like to do so i am considering a 9mm. I wouldn't use a 25 for self defense unless I REALLY REALLY had to. I would be more intimidated by a big ole butche knife han a 25. You could melt it down and use it to make real bullets. But if it is all you have, then go for it. I would start nickel and dimming away some cash for another gun.

Everyone got this,but be aware that Glock has their own 45 ammo. It's called G.A.P. for Glock Automatic Pistol. These two rounds are VERY similar looking and you must NEVER interchange these. You will be just fine. Hold it tight against your shoulder as you would any other gun and go to town little man. There is no way to learn if you don't try so the best thing for you to do is get out there and go for it! When i was a youngster of about nine, and you don't need to know how long ago that was, my granddaddy had what he called his long john deuce. In short it was a double barrel 12 gauge shotgun that was about the same height as i was and he told me i could shoot it. At that age i had done little more than plink with a .22 but that thing had been hanging over the frame of granddaddy's front door as long as i could remember and i wanted so badly to shoot it. I am not a fan of the .40. The recoil is quite snappy since it is a newer design and uses higher pressure. I don't really see where the .45 ACP recoil is too much. My youngest, when he was 12, could shoot my Springfield XD-45 one handed without any trouble.

I have a four month old baby (first child) and have been searching high and low for a carrier that she would like. I finally found one after spending about $400 on carriers. Walther PPK/S in.380 or .32 ACP stainless. I carry the .32 ACP CCW EVERY single day. A lot of people give me grief for carrying it. Unfortunately for their credibility only one of them has ever had to use a CCW weapon for real and my misfortune has caused me to use mine twice. Both times the people who shot at me died. One had a 44 mag wheel gun and the other had a Beretta in 9mm parabelleum with fifteen rounds. They emptied their weapons and I fired three rounds each time. I lived and they did not. The size of your hand cannon does not matter a dam if you can not hit you target. Two rounds in the center of mass and one in the eyes generally leaves the spray and pray guy on a slab.

There are three levels, and you do each one for ten days. I'm still on level one and today was my sixth day. I know it might be too soon to see results but I couldn't help but weigh myself and notice that I haven't lost anything, but I've gained weight! I'm also on my period, so I've considered that might be the reason, along with it might just be muscle weight gain. I've really been watching what I eat and I'm drinking nothing but water with lemon. For a main CCW, would you go with a Glock 26, 27 or 30.?

BTW the 26 is a 9mm, 27 is a .40S&W, and the 30 is a .45 ACP. My G17 is a bit bulky for a CCW and I'm sold on a subcompact Glock for that purpose. Since this is an old gun and I really haven't done much with it I would love to know what kind of cartridge this gun fires. I believe it fires a .32 ACP round but would love to know for sure in case I ever get around to shooting it I can have some spare ammo laying around. bought the tcp 738 and I'm happy with it, except for the mag, when fully loaded it wont seat all the way in the gun. there is about a 1/16" gap between mag and gun, daylight can be seen through gap easily. any help in appreciated

Buying ammo before the gun?

Today I walked into wally world to buy some ammo and found some federal lightning bricks for $14.47. Maybe I just got excited because they weren't taken apart into the 50rd bricks but they seem the same as blue box federal champion rounds and are a $1 less then the 550 bulk value pack. Just a thought anyways I always seem to notice that 45 Auto is hard to come by now adays even when the ammo shortages are clearly over. Like I can find 9mm, 380, .40 but 45 auto winchester whitebox is just gone. So today I picked up a box and bought 2 50rd boxes of Federal .45 ACP. Call me crazy but isn't it a good idea to buy ammo while its cheap even if you don't have the 1911 to shoot it with yet? I'm thinking about making it a point to buy Winchester 100rd value packs every time I make an ammo run just to slowly build up a supply. I feel like I have plenty for the calibers I do have btw.

Ok so there is this guy named Dylan. At my church we were going to do broom hockey from 10pm to 12am and we were on our church bus. I was sitting by my friend Sadie and two guys behind us named Austin and John. It can shot with the same muzzle energy as a .380 acp using cci stingers and yet people say a .380 is a excellent home defense round while the .22 lr is the worst. I've killed wild boar 100-150 lbs with my .22 lr, i don't see how it won't stop/kill an intruder. A lot of people suggest firearms WAY to big for some game too, i saw a thread where a guy recommended a minimum 45-70 for DEER! So why is the .22 lr so underrated?

In 2009 i was diagnosed with depression after battling with being bullied and my mum and dad separating from each other. I had been self harming for months and not eating for months too. I was given anti depressants that i used for one week until i went to see a psychiatrist who took them off me. After seeing a psychiatrist for a few months i thought i was feeling better and left. I still felt depressed and carried on sleeping the days away, feeling depressed, self harming and not eating. When it came to January of 2010 i completely changed, i was either not sleeping at all for or having an hours sleep and feeling fine when i woke up. I went out drinking with friends every night until i passed out and even started smoking. I felt great, life felt amazing, i was getting into relationships which ended up turning sour after a few months. I was being reckless i just didn't know it until september hit and i was depressed for months yet again. Now its got to today and im still constantly up and down. One day im talking so fast no one can keep up with me, i have so many ideas my mind cannot keep up, i think i have special powers, i get so paranoid i think people are stalking me or that my boyfriend is playing away and i get so angry i physically hurt my boyfriend and then a few days later im constantly sleeping, feeling so sad and unable to enjoy anything, some days i cant even walk to the bathroom i feel so depressed. I have also developed an eating disorder. After years of being so skinny i cant stand to see myself with any weight on my stomach anymore so i either fast or make myself throw up. My mood swings are really severe and they have been getting closer and closer together. Any suggestions on what could be wrong? I dint even feel human anymore! :(

My First choice is .357 Magnum followed by 38 special. Why because I have the most experience shooting the .357 mag than any other handgun cartridge. I know what it is capable of doing in my N Frame S&W's and my J frame sized revolvers. I believe that the round is a proven man stopper. Lastly the revolver is very reliable handgun and I'm more accurate with a revolver than a semi-automatic pistol. When I carry my J frame sized revolvers I carry 38 Special HP's, because I want to reduce the risk over penetration inside the city.

With all the compact 9mm Paras out now there is no reason to pack a .380 acp. More power in guns about the same size is makes better sense. The Kimber Solo, Kel Tec Pf-9, kahr pm9's & pm 45's, Taurus Slim series, Ruger SR-9 & Walther PPS. These are the way to go. The S & W L frame? Most carry the smaller J frame 5 shots. But if want a wheel gun? Consider the Ruger LCR Poly Revolver & the newer 357 version. Lighter more compact gun than the 686.

If you have more then one gun, you should have some form of safe. The thought of putting on hearing protection prior to a home defense situation is plain silly. You are potentially fighting for your life, why give a bad guy a edge and waste valuable time? I put a rugar sr40 on lay away. From what I heard it has the lightest recoil for a 40 acp. Then I found the federal low recoil and I thought it might be good for a light recoil pistol. I believe you would have it in the correct order if going from quietest to loudest from top to bottom. but in most cases, you likely wouldn't be able to distinguish between them just by ear since they'd be suppressed, most company made suppressors have maximum decibel tolerances and usually they try to get as close to it as possible to it to reduce material costs.

As far as stopping power goes,I use Glaser safety slugs or Mag Safe in my 32. My first 2 rd are; a glaser then 2 win silver tips in case I need penetration, followed by glasers. The 1911 and it's predecessor the 1905 were both made to use FMJ cartridge. They were the most common semi auto cartridge back in those days. Kimber as well as other manufactures recommend you use FMJ cartridges in their firearms to insure proper feeding. Hollow points of old could and would cause feeding problems. Modern .45 ACP hollow points are made to feed in most .45 ACP handguns. As with any ammunition firearm combination you should use them in your firearm before depending your life on them.

I own a CVA Electra with a 1:28 twist and am not interested in paying nearly a dollar per store-bought saboted bullet. In a search for inexpensive projectiles for a .50 caliber sabot (just the sabot, $8 for 50), I stumbled across the seemingly obvious: the plentiful and cheap 230-grain .45 ACP FMJ (1000 for $50 on clearance). My concerns are that most companies seem to list about 240 grain as the minimum weight projectile recommended for .50 caliber sabots. I'm aware that this 230 grain bullet is less suited for hunting than target shooting but I plan on mostly shooting at the range, anyway. Thompson/Center did once offer 230 grain Sure Fire Sabots and all the reviews I read were positive. Will 230 grain FMJ's stabilize? Can I expect anything approaching accuracy? I really don't have the time or space to cast my own bullets but still visit the range quite often. With prices what they are these days, I really hope somebody has had a good experience with the combination I'm proposing. Thanks.
