Cylinders 1 and 5 misfire?

i just bought a 2000 Acura and as i was driving my check engine light came on so i took it to ACP and they ran the test and it said Cylinders 1 and 5 misfire and he said it could be something with the coils? Can someone tell me what coils are,if its bad that im having problems with them,if its even worth fixing and what the cost of the repair would be? I dont know anything about cars!
