Other than .22 caliber, what is the most common round used for practice?

I assume the 9mm is the most common round purchased other than 22 cal. I'm asking because I'm considering a 9 mm pistol because I'm thinking ammo for practicing with a 45 ACP or even a .40 cal would be less common and therefore more expensive.
