Would a "poisoned" bullet actually work? Wouldn't the barrel rifling scrape off all that poison anyways?

If you get a low caliber weapon it will. A guy once turned an umbrella into a "gun" it shot a small projectile at a low velocity so that it was just enough to pierce the skin. The bullet was laced with more than enough poison so that some would survive. And sure enough it worked.
